Personal and Life Coach Training

Life Coaching has become an established service to helping people accomplish life goals and create the lifestyle that they desire. Unlike psychotherapy, people do not need to have problems to seek the services and benefits of a Life Coach.

While some coaching is a straight forward helping a person create and accomplish personal goals, a significant amount of Life Coaching is about helping people transform their lives, through integrating their values and core purpose into the way they live.

Our Life Coaching is oriented to helping people create a purpose centered life in which they can say Yes! in the following three ways:

  • Yes! to God, However they understand that
  • Yes! to their neighbor
  • Yes! to themselves

For life is found in what we say Yes! to for there is no life in those things to which we say no.

We also have created a purpose centered, personal development program for Church communities called Yes!3.

Appreciative Coaching

Our Appreciative Coaching is based on the Appreciative Way, Rob and Kim Voyle's synthesis of:

  • The practice and philosophy of Appreciative Inquiry
  • The work of Milton Erickson and his students
  • Positive Psychology
  • Compassion as the agent of transformation
Appreciative Coach Training Programs

The Clergy Leadership Institute provides several programs for those interested in developing their coaching skills. Based in the Appreciative Way, our Foundations of Appreciative Coaching program focuses on developing basic coaching competencies and helping people discern their core purpose.

While oriented primarily toward coaching and consulting with clergy and churches our Certificate in Appreciative Coaching would also be applicable to anyone who wants to provide Life Coaching using:

  • an appreciative inquiry perspective
  • their personal spiritual resources and the spiritual resources of their clients
Spiritual Perspective

Our training programs are explicitly Christian in their theological outlook but are open to a wide variety of spiritual expression, including Buddhist and other compassionate, contemplative practices. Participation in our programs does not require a specific belief system, however it does require that participants can reflect theologically and psychologically on their life and coaching.
